Why package holidays take the stress out of going on holiday

Going on holiday should be a relaxing experience, but all too often the booking process can be a stressful one. Searching for cheap flights and finding accommodation in a desirable location that doesn’t break the bank can be a challenge, which is why many people prefer to book holidays as a package and ease the burden.

When you book a package holiday, you’ll be free to leave as much or as little planning to your travel agent as you prefer. If you have a certain destination in mind, with a number of activities you’re eager to take part in and places you want to visit, you can look for package holidays that include these specifications, whereas others may include activities and experiences you hadn’t previously considered, at a budget price.

There’s a persistent myth that package holidays are always more expensive than DIY holidays where you arrange every part of your trip independently, but the opposite can often be the case. Many travel companies have exclusive access to low-cost deals on airlines and accommodation that aren’t available to everyday holiday bookers, so you won’t necessarily be paying more for the privilege of reducing the stress from your holiday booking.

If you do feel a certain package is too expensive however, there are ways to reduce the cost – such as opting for cheaper accommodation or removing certain activities or extra features that you don’t feel need to be included.

One important decision to make is whether you wish to eat and drink all inclusive, or to go on a self catering holiday. If you’re hoping to alleviate stress, all inclusive holidays can be the perfect option, as all or most of your food and drink will already be included in the cost, so you won’t have to worry about finding a restaurant or withdrawing more money once you’re overseas. However, all inclusive holidays are usually more expensive than self catering, especially if you prefer to prepare your own food.

You can find package holidays in destinations all over the world, from safari holidays in Africa to city breaks in the UK. If you’re planning on getting involved in a number of activities and going on lots of day trips when you reach your destination, package holidays can often be the most cost-effective solution, as your package may cover the cost of admission fees that could soon add up if you’re travelling with all the family and paying yourself.
