The Cabaret Hotspot of Spain

Benidorm has been a popular break destination for British travellers for decades. Its glorious weather and distinctive cultural attractions lie just two short hours from the UK, making it just as well suited to weekend excursions as it is to longer family holidays. Whatever type of holiday you’re hoping for – whether it’s sunbathing and reading on the beach or letting your hair down and dancing the night away – Benidorm caters for everyone.

It’s the Benidorm nightlife that sees many visitors coming back for more however, especially with entertainment options such as the city’s famous cabarets, which are quite unlike anything British holidaymakers will be used to at home. Cabaret bars can be a great way to start your night out, combining a three course meal with sophisticated family-friendly entertainment and opening earlier than most other night spots, around 8PM.

Cabaret shows include everything from singing and dancing to other types of performance, so there’s bound to be something on the bill that appeals to everyone in your group. If you’re hoping to escape the other tourists and enjoy a little authentic Spanish culture on your Benidorm holiday, cabarets can be the best places to do it.

Benidorm is an international destination though, which means many different cultures are represented beyond Spain’s own. One surprisingly popular facet of the city’s nightlife is the prevalence of country and western bars, many of which feature live music and can be a great place to enjoy a few drinks before the big clubs and pubs open. If you’re on holiday with the kids, karaoke bars are also a big hit in Benidorm, where everyone can have a go at singing their favourite hits.

If you’re after a little more from the Benidorm nightlife than cabarets and show bars provide, you’ll be spoiled for choice with great clubs – though the premier venues usually charge high admission fees for the privilege, often around 25 euros. There are many clubs to be found around Playa Levante and Avenida Communidad Valencia areas, and some stay open as late as 7AM during peak season.

Sometimes, you won’t even have to leave the comfort of your resort to enjoy great entertainments in Benidorm. For this reason, it can be well worth investigating whether the place you’re staying at hosts cabaret shows and other family entertainment at night, to make sure you’ll always have plenty to do on your holidays.
