For the purposes of this article we have assumed that a lot of people who work and live in and around major cities look for quieter and more sedate holiday vacations, and therefore we have not included areas within London for example where there are some lovely rentals and sights to be seen. Below we have chosen some lovely areas where you can take a relaxing holiday and enjoy the views as well.
- Cotswolds - The Cotswolds is one of the most desirable areas and has one of the best selection of holiday cottages in the UK. You can find some fantastic deals when it comes to looking for holiday rentals and cottages, set in the aesthetically beautiful 790 square miles and across 6 Counties, the Cotswolds is officially the country’s largest designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. It really is a huge place and a bit of research maybe required before you book to ensure that the area you are looking for has everything you need. You can rest assured that what it will have are amazing views and scenery, perfect for taking a stroll along the river or through the hillsides, river valleys, old market towns and breath-taking water meadows. The areas found in the Cotswolds are old ‘typically English’ style villages and make the ideal getaway location.
- North Devon - The area of North Devon also makes a great holiday getaway with gorgeous villages linked up with winding old country style roads which are a pleasure to drive especially when the sun is shining enabling you to truly appreciate the views. Make sure you take the time out to visit the towns of Woolacombe and Ilfracombe which are lovely seaside towns and be sure to try the local ice cream and fudge!
- Heart of England, Derbyshire – Derbyshire offers plenty when it comes to holiday vacations. Popular with the camping lot, there is a wealth of different areas offering quaint little towns with cottages available for rent, amongst the fantastic landscape. Make sure you bring your walking boots when you visit Derbyshire as you will never be far from some of the country’s best walks and local footpaths where there are short to long walks depending on how much time you have.
- Northumberland - The 100 mile long Northumberland coast which stretches down the Eastern side of the UK is often referred to as England’s ‘Best Kept Secret’. Also designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, Northumberland is a popular holiday resort. In this quiet holiday area you can enjoy air of tranquillity by exploring the quiet county roads and enjoying the mile-after-mile stretch of golden sands.
- Cornwall - We could not write this article without mentioning Cornwall and its rich blue seas and golden beaches. Cornwall has long been a popular holiday destination and this has been because of the gorgeous holidays you can enjoy. Take your pick between a peaceful holiday or an action packed fun-filled holiday as you will enjoy Cornwall whatever your holiday needs (weather permitting!) Also be sure to try some of the locally-made Cornish Pasties, as since the new rule came in, you can only get a Cornish Pasty in Cornwall.
