Top 3 Exclusive London Nightclubs

How good is London nightlife? Well, to give the short answer, damn good! It rivals any nightlife, in any major city in the world. And for this it can thank its nightclubs… As such here’s a rundown of the top 3 London nightclubs that contribute to the hedonistic nighttime fun.

  • Chinawhite

  • Merah

  • Mahiki

Chinawhite

Known as the king of clubs, and the venue that kicked off exclusive clubbing in London, Chinawhite has achieved high status and reputation in London.

It all started around 12 years ago when the club first opened. To the casual bystander it looked like another average club was about to open, not so. Chinawhite was an instant hit, attracting celebrities from around the world, along with the well-heeled socialites that spend a fair amount of time painting the town red. It got to the point that on a Wednesday night — a particular favorite with celebs — the queue was four or five people deep.

Fast forwart to today and the club still holds the same cachet it once did. Still attracting A-list celebrities; movie stars, sports stars, international music artists, and others of similar famous standing. And in doing so it’s done a tremendous job in a clubbing scene where many flock to the next “hottest thing”.

Merah

Just around the corner from Chinawhite is another popular club, Merah. It’s had quite a turnaround in fortunes, it started off poorly and then thanks to a seemingly almost constant flow of high profile music artists doing personal appearances it’s become a place to be seen.

Merah focuses mainly on contemporary House music, which adds to its fresh feel and hotspot status. It also has a strict dress code — You’d better be looking good otherwise you’re not going to make it through the door in this place. A manager at the venue once told me that their aim was to make it so people were so desperate to come in they’d be willing to cut off their arm for entry.

It yet to be seen if the club can maintain its reputation; live by the sword of being a current hotspot, die by the sword of being a current hotspot!

Mahiki

This Mayfair club was set up by nightclub veterans, and when it first opened had Guy Pelly, friend of Prince Harry and William, as Marketing Manager. With that, and visits from the princes the venue quickly gained a reputation as a hangout for high society.

Also being in Mayfair hedge fund managers were only just around the corner, and they are willing to splash out major cash on a night out — they make normal bankers seem like beggars.

Currently the club still attracts big names, and is often the focus of newspaper articles. It says that it’s a club for everyone, and has a open-door policy. This isn’t strictly true, as many a rejected clubber over the years has found out. Again, to get access to the venue an effort on the dress front needs to be made.

This post is written by the club promoter Chris Hunt. As Chinawhites is the best club in London he spends his time helping promote the venue.
