Diving gives us many opportunities to truly experience the World’s oceans, sea and marine wildlife. Diving grants the explorer a unique chance to get as close as is physically possible to some of the most beautiful, rare and illusive marine creatures on the planet. Many of which will only ever be seen on television nature programs and in aquariums around the World.
Diving allows you to the freedom to swim with fish, whole schools of them, explore caves, seabed’s, coral reefs and ship wrecks without needing to resurface for air for a long time. Choosing somewhere to dive can be difficult, to say the least. There are hundreds if not thousands of locations, which you could go diving around. Finding the best Countries and areas will reward you with the experience of a lifetime.
My Top 3 Diving Destinations
Great Barrier Reef – Eastern Australia
Australia is home to the largest reef ecosystem on our planet and spans a total of around 1,500 miles alongside eastern Australia. Covering such a vast area off the coast naturally means that it is home to many marine species.
The highlight of any trip to the Great Barrier Reef has to be giant clams; giant clams have often got the same circumference as a large dinner plate and weigh many kilograms depending upon their age. Depending upon what part of the East coast you visit you will find different eco systems, supporting many common and rarer marine creatures.
Galapagos Islands – Ecuador
The Galapagos Islands have attracted visitors for many years, part due to the fact they have been marked as a World Heritage Site. This small group of Islands approximately 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador are home to some of the most critically endangered sea creatures.
Diving here you will immediately notice the friendly nature of the fish, unafraid of human contact, they swim right up against you whilst diving. The highlight of your journey will be seeing the native oddly coloured but humble Galapagos crab, which populates whole areas, side by side in a uniformed manor. This location is recommended for the more experienced divers and is an extremely difficult novice diving location.
The Red Sea – Between Egypt and Saudi Arabia
The Red Sea is no stranger to divers throughout the West, and is rapidly becoming a world class diving location throughout the world amongst divers. Europeans have visited these waters for decades. The Red Sea provides approximately 1,200 miles of ideal diving opportunity for you and your diving group. The Red Sea provides access to a unique ecosystem home to some 1,2000 different species of fish. This is by far my favourite of the three, offering so much variety and varying landscapes occupied by ancient pyramid’s and rolling dunes of sand.
