Pune Travel Made Easy

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

Gone are those days when Pune was known for its rich Maratha culture and heritage. Today, Pune is one of the places getting popular after Mumbai, may be because of the important influence of IT industry within the city. The city today has become a nest for the foreigners and the IT technicians. By Foreigners, I mean the non-maharashtrian crowd staying in the city and making it a homely place to live in. Apart from serving as a nest and providing a homely experience to all the people in Pune, there are a lot of things to explore in and around Pune, but for this you need to travel in Pune.

Get in Pune

There are a lot of facilities provided today that can make your Pune travel easy and fast. But before exploring the Pune places, let me first tell you how to reach Pune. You can reach Pune by Air, Train or Bus. All you need to do is book your tickets for whichever mode of travel you would prefer. Once you get down at Pune Airport or Pune Station, hop into the local transport available within the city and go to your desired destination.

Move Around Pune

To get around Pune, you can travel by PMPML city bus (fare calculated by distance, 5Rs is the minimum fare) or auto-rickshaws (fare calculated as per the reading on the meter, buy tariff card available in the market for better travel experience). You can also hire a car on rent (fare calculated on per day basis, or on distance traveled whichever is minimum) or travel by your own car within the city.

Pune Darshan

There are a lot of places to visit in Pune. To ease out your Pune travel and help you see Pune places and also give you some knowledge about Pune, the city has arranged a Pune Darshan Bus which is run by PMPML city buses. The fare is 72Rs for general bus and 140Rs for luxury per head. This bus takes you for a complete city tour that starts from Pune Station at 9AM in the morning and usually ends by 5PM in the evening, when the bus comes back to the starting point.

Time for Some Shopping ( Pune City )

During your time in Pune, you can also shop at the small shops located on the sides of FC road, JM Road, Laxmi Road or Tulsi Baug. These shops sell clothes, bags, shoes and other accessories along with some beautiful items that are useful for daily living. If you wish to go to malls, then try exploring Jewel Square (Koregaon Park), SGS Mall (Camp) or the Kakade Mall (University road). In camp, one can also shop inside fashion street or clover center located in Camp.

I hope that this information would have helped you explore different Pune places and make your Pune travel easy and simple. I also hope that you will have a nice time in the city.
