I hope these money saving travel tips will help you to save the next time you travel.
Always set yourself a budget
Holiday and travel spending can seriously run out of control if you don’t manage it effectively. Before you travel or go on holiday, look at what you’re planning to do, see if there are any special deals on any attractions you want to visit and plan how much money you would need.
If you plan your spend daily, then you should spend your money more efficiently. Remember to include all your costs for food, drink, etc. Once you have done this you now have an estimated amount of money that you could spend on your journey, ask yourself if you’re happy with this amount and if not, and then think of ways you can cut the spending.
Don’t use your normal credit cards
You should never use your normal credit cards when travelling abroad or you may end up with a nasty shock when you return home! Normal credit cards will issue you with charges for transactions and for withdrawing money so be careful.
The other option you have is to take out a travel credit card which wouldn’t normally come with these added costs; they are brilliant, do your research and find the best card for you.
Make sure you get a good exchange rate
Many people you go travelling lose a lot of money by not making use of the best places to exchange money. Do your research online and ask around, sometimes the best places to exchange are hard to find so ask the locals for any advice, you could save a lot of money.
Booking cheaper accommodation
Booking cheaper accommodation doesn’t necessarily mean booking in a lower standard of apartment, but you can simply book a hotel that is based outside of the main tourist area. As long as the hotel or apartment is within walking distance of the main attractions then you will save money by booking a little bit further out. You may be surprised how much money you could save by walking an extra 10 minutes a day.
Saving money on food
To save money on food when you’re travelling, you really have two options; you can either make your own food in your apartment, which will mean you eat out less. Or if you want to experience new cuisine then ask the locals where the best places are to eat that are reasonably priced. If you eat in your hotel on a regular basis then you may spend more then you intend you.
We all love travelling and exploring new places, but we also know that travelling can be really expensive. This great money saving tips that you can use the next time to travel, was shared by Personal Finance 4 All.
