If you need to ‘get out of town fast,’ then packing quickly is definitely an important skill to have. Packing frantically gains nothing and will always add time to your packing venture. It is critical that you learn to remain calm and composed. Good luck with that requirement. Your packing skills will evolve over time with a great deal of travel experience. Climbing the ladder of success in this arena requires having a great deal of patience with yourself. Ultimately, being either frantic or impatient, or possibly both, will definitely ruin your trip and could create ulcers.
Early-Stage Packing:
• If you are vacationing, know well in advance of your departure date where you are going and when. Seems too simple, right? Some people know that they will be vacationing yet wait until the last minute to decide just where they are going. You cannot complete the rest of the list until you know what the weather will be.
• Make a list of all items that you will need to take with you. Keep the list handy and out where you can see it.
• Business trips may not provide that same luxury as a vacation.
• If you travel a lot, keep your travel insurance up-to-date. When you make your reservation with the airline, always make certain that necessary travel insurance is also acquired. There are some great websites online that allow you to compare travel insurance prices. Have ‘separate necessities’ for traveling, such as razor, hair brush, toothbrush and etc. in zip-lock bags that are always ready for travel.
• At the same time, gather your passport and any credit cards designated for travel.
• This is a good time to make certain that you have the appropriate medications ready to go. These are all of your foundational items for traveling.
• This is a good moment to set aside the clothes that you want to take on your trip. It is also a good time to have them washed and pressed and ready to pack.
Later-Stage Packing:
• Begin to pack your one suitcase and one travel bag. Unless you are staying somewhere for months, these two bags are all that is needed. If you take more than these bags, then expect to ‘pay the price’ for the luxury of doing so.
• Make certain that you are only wearing clothes that will not be going on the trip. Wearing traveling clothes creates a last minute glitch in your plan to pack as quickly as possible. Do not be tempted!
• If you want peace in your life, pack your bags several days in advance of the trip.
Last-Minute Packing:
• Last minute packing should only involve going down the list you created and checking off the items that you packed. Put the list in your suitcase for your return trip, close the bag, lock your door, make certain that you have your keys and breathe a sigh of relief.

Love your tips. We each have a ready packed toiletry bag since we travel so frequently. This alone cuts down on “pack” time because it only leave clothes, shoes and accessories to think about. Packing in less than an hour becomes a cinch.
