Four Tips to Save on Holiday Rentals

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

The splendid setting offered by Tuscan villas, the romantic appeal attached to them and the deserved fame of Tuscany all
contribute to making them a great vacation destination for many. We all know that villas do not come cheap, so here are a few tips for your next holidays showing how you can squeeze a good amount of savings from the rental price.

Go direct
Direct bookings are the best way to save money on your Tuscan villas rental price. What is direct booking? It simply is when you remove any intermediary and directly deal with the owner of your holiday accommodation. Intermediaries usually increase the price by 10% to 30%. Even when their websites show they have the same rate as the owner’s site, dealing with the owner will cut you a deal anyways, as you can ask for a discount just a bit lower than the percentage the agency would have asked them. This way you are sure you will get the real best price on the Internet!

Property websites only
It just follows that you have to look for a property’s official website. If you go to an intermediary’s website looking for the property you like then search for that property name hoping to find a direct contact, you are out of luck. 99% of the times intermediaries change the real name with a fictitious one. The advice here is to look in very low search engine results (from the 5th page onwards) looking for any website that shows a property rental name instead of a generic word such as “Tuscan villas” or “Tuscany Rentals” dot com in their name. Official property websites usually have much more information than agency sites, plus the direct contact information is always plainly available to you.

Asking for discounts
It is not easy to get discounts when renting a property, and holiday rentals are not very different. However, Tuscan villas owners are glad when they can get a multi-week rental. Therefore when renting for more than a week, ask for a discount over the total price. Discounts are also easily obtained during the mid and low seasons. The high season lasts from July until the end of August, but the best time for you to stay and ask discounts for is from the beginning of April
until the end of May, and from mid September through October. Bear in mind that swimming pools are usually open from mid May until mid September.

Big group, large villa, little money
Tuscan villas come in all sizes, but you rarely get one for less than 8 people. On the other side, it is common to get one for 12 to 20 people. Unless you have specific requirements, beef up your group of people and share a larger villa. The cost per person will be minimal and your villa will be filled with nice amenities and provide a splendid garden and pool. Alway consider that the larger the property, the lower the price per person.

Number one is definitely the best tip. So many websites are out there now, and all are advertising direct from the owner.

Point 3 is very true. Did you know when travelling in a group the price per square metre on a holiday rental is less than if the group booked in a hotel?

  3. You can have the ideal holiday in Thailand often, one of the finest locations for vacation. Quite low-priced compared to western standards. Young ladies and people are so nice and housing is up to standart often.
