Liverpool is a city with a colorful history. Dubbed the city of invention and innovation it contains some really great gems that are best discover on foot. The Heritage Tour is designed to show you all of the most important ones while taking you to a walk around the city. This one hour long tour explores the history and stories of some of the most notable buildings opened to the public. One of the greatest advantages of this tour is that you can do it on your own also, by downloading the tours commentary onto your mp3 player and following the instructions and information on it.
For anyone with strong nerves, the Shiverpool Ghost Tour is an attraction not to miss. Ideal if you are interested in supernatural and mystical history of the city the tour focuses on the Hope Street part of the city and explores the dark past of some of the buildings there.
Not many people are aware of that but Liverpool has had some associations with the slave trade in the past centuries and the Slave History tour focuses heavily on that, presenting how the city’s enormous wealth was built at a huge price of human suffering and despair.
Another great Liverpool attraction which you can avail of for free are the city’s famous parks and gardens.
Liverpool Parks and Gardens are ideal if you are looking for a quiet place to unwind and relax after exploring the city’s attractions. There are over 2500 such locations in Liverpool and below is a list of the most popular ones.
St. Johns Gardens, otherwise known as the Peace Gardens this quiet park is filled with statues and monuments for the famous citizens of the city. While there, you can visit two trees, planted by John Lennon and George Harrison.
St. Nicholas Church Garden is a popular lunchtime location where many Liverpudlians escape their busy work day to enjoy their midday break and a stunning view on the river Mersey.
Sefton Park is one of the largest parks in England and is often mentioned for its lazy atmosphere. It is a great gateway from the busy city life and indulge in all the activities that take place there regularly.
