Discovering Dubai
What do you think the word nightlife entails? Most importantly, what makes a good night out? To some it’s an energetic evening/morning spent at a ridiculously wild and hard-core club. Adrenaline pumping venues or live music settings works for some, however, for others, a relaxing jaunt to a local restaurant or picturesque pavement café is a far more agreeable and attractive option. Despite your preference, as comfortable and luxurious your hotel room may be (as hotel rooms in Dubai are generally of high standard wherever you choose to stay) there is no excuse not to venture out at night in Dubai.
My visit to the city certainly didn’t help me with my personal struggle with indecisiveness! Staying in the swish Madinat Jumeirah complex, I found what locals dubbed as the new heart of Dubai nightlife. Bombarded with stimulating options night after eventful night, my week spent in the city transformed my holiday into one ground breaking and memorable experience. One tip, the opportunities available to you are limitless and infinite, so PLAN, PLAN and PLAN! We found the Khaleej Times (local Newspaper) a helpful resource in pin-pointing the events you really don’t want to be a stranger to.
The resort has an extensive leisure zone, where you’ll find an endless string of stylish bars reclining on the rippling water’s edge. Dance, drink, or devour a dish of traditional Lebanese cuisine whilst boat spotting or taking in the extensive and breath-taking views. Make sure you make an appearance in the marina’s Buddha Bar. Attracting locals and tourists you’ll be able to leisurely sip at imaginary, yet delicious cocktails or dance the night away with a diverse group of people. Don’t become too accustom to the stunning décor you find in these fashionable haunts though! If this living style suits you, head to Left Bank, situated in the centre of the complex. You’ll find a slice of chic in this vivacious setting of live music. You can even spend your evening lolling on a leather chaise longs whilst spotting the best dressed or fascinating dancer.
Big name DJ’s have recently been attracted to Dubai and the Western clubbing scene, which appeals to around the clock party-goers, is certainly no disappointment here! Whilst the clubs are generally relaxed on dress codes, with only some demanding no jeans, dress to impress and hit platinum list, rocking venues all through the night……..well, till 3am, which is when most clubs shut in the city. Besides, you do want to retain a certain degree of class and return to your hotel room at a semi-decent hour! Boudoir, wannabe Parisian club is buzzing, breath-taking and a place to be seen! With a blend of musical genres, from Urban sounds to popular hit-list tunes, head to The Apartment Lounge and Club. Affordable and still maintaining a high level of class you’ll be stuck for choice!
Looking for a more mellow night out? Why not head to the cinema or theatre? The beauty of this complex is that you can relax and still enjoy being active without the tiring action of 24/7 partying or socialising. The Dubai Theatre hosts classical music opera, drama and musicals, as well as art exhibitions and workshops. Remember that film you obsessed over seeing back home, and missed because of other commitments or a busy work diary? Don’t fear…you may find it here! After a chilled evening, sheltered from the hustle and bustle of energetic nightlife, you should head to one of Dubai’s coffee houses for a quiet drink. If you’re feeling experimental, you could even smoke cherry flavoured tobacco from a shisha pipe!
Dubai – the hub of excitement! You don’t have to search for the possibilities, just leave your room and explore the endless opportunities.
