Best time of the year to travel to Lisbon

Lisbon is one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in the world located on the coast of Portugal. It has an average temperature of 75 degrees that makes Portugal’s capital city the warmest in all of Europe. The high season runs during the summer time but, the best time to visit is either in late Spring around May or in early fall in middle of September. These dates will provide warm weather enough to enjoy the beaches and outdoor markets and it will not be scorching hot like it is in the middle of July.

Begin your trip to Lisbon with a stop in Commerce Square or as the locals call it the Praça do Comércio. This square is the largest in all of Lisbon and one of the most historic. The square overlooking the Tagus River and it is a beautiful site to see with a huge open space surrounded by sunny yellow architecture and the famed Augusta Arch, a huge structure that acts as the entrance to the square. The arch opens onto Rua Augusta one of the main drags in Lisbon that is full of shopping and cafes and hotels. You can find many hotels in Lisbon in the area surrounding this area because it is popular amongst locals and tourists. You will be able to find luxury and budget accommodations near Commerce Square. You can also see an equestrian statue of a former monarch and wander the side streets along the square or along the river front. Commerce Square is must see stop for the start of your Lisbon adventure.

Lisbon is full of many wonderful historical districts that are full of flavour themselves. One of the best areas for those interested in cultural history and art museums need to go to an area called Chiado. There is a beautiful little square of Luís de Camões that has an incredible mosaic floor. Chiado also has some locally renowned cafés amongst the many local artisan shops. The district of Bélem is also a great place to explore. You can see the famed statue the Monument to the Discoveries which is dedicated to a famous Portuguese explorer. A beautiful monastery is also in the main square of this district along with great shopping and cuisine. Thanks to all he wonderful neighbourhoods in the capital, it is easy to wander and get lost amongst the sun drenched buildings of splendid Lisbon, Portugal.

  1. Portugal is a country that has alot to offer it’s visitors. Here you can visit cities such as Lissaboa, just next to the Atlantic sea.
