With the end of the school year approaching, it is time to start to think about your annual family vacations . There are some great family destinations that can fit just about any budget. Following are 10 of my favorite family destinations.
• Disney World is at the top of the list for family vacations in the Orlando area. It is much more than an amusement park. Disney has created the ultimate travel destination for families with young children. In addition to all the thrilling rides in the Magic Kingdom, there are also many educational rides in Epcot Center. Disney property includes a water park, many fine hotels and other family friendly places to stay like Old Key West Village. Whether you want to talk to Mickey, visit the Animal Kingdom, stroll down Main Street, shop, dine out, play golf, swim or simply do it all, Disney is the place to be.
• Universal Studios is another great place to take the family. They do it up big at the Orlando attraction with backstage tours of Hollywood studios, roller coasters and other great rides and plenty of live entertainment. There is always something exciting and new going on at Universal Studios
• Take a Cruise of the Caribbean on a ship that caters to families. While you are on board, your 10 or 12 year old child can roam around and you can enjoy taking in some sun by the pool. Parents can put their younger children in a day care center where they will be entertained and amused by a crew of child care professionals. Enjoy a day at the beach or shopping on one of the islands you visit and then get back on the ship, enjoy a nice dinner and go back to your room to unwind.
• The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a great place to take a beach vacation. You can rent a spacious beach house, tour around the quaint, small towns and maybe see where the Wright Brothers took their historic flight.
• Niagara Falls is a fun family destination. Everyone will marvel at the force and majesty of this natural wonder and you can take a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist and get up close to the cascading waters.
• Six Flags has several locations across the country. It is a great amusement park and can provide a full day’s entertainment and excitement.
• Washington D.C. is both fun and educational. Learn how our government works and while you are there visit some of the monuments. Don’t miss the Smithsonian Museum.
• Hershey, Pennsylvania is where they make the most famous chocolate in the world. Take a tour of the factory and visit the nearby amusement park that has plenty of rides for the kids.
• Cooperstown is the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The area is very quaint and there are lots of lakes and green spaces to enjoy.
• Jersey Shore – In deference to the TV show, spending a few days by the Atlantic Ocean is a fun way to spend a few days or more without breaking the bank.
Well, those are a few fun places to spend a family vacation. There are many more great places all across the country. Plan your vacation in advance and have a wonderful time.
